Acupuncture Benefits
Acupuncture is a safe, effective, and natural way to prevent and treat any physical problems we develop. Acupuncture stimulates the central nervous system and releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes will cause the body natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.
Our goal is to make your visit as relaxing and healing as possible. Ideally, you will leave your acupuncture appointment feeling rested and refreshed.
Acupuncture Treatment Session
We do accept most insurance (including auto-accidents and worker’s compensation).

We are in-network with Cigna.
Avoid scheduling an appointment directly before or after strenuous activities. Wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing. You can bring a change of clothes, such as athletic shorts. We recommend that you have your meal at least two hours before treatment. As with any restorative therapy, you do not want to feel either overly full or hungry.
Your first appointment will typically last 75 minutes. During the evaluation, your overall health will be evaluated to determine the best course of treatment. Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on the appreciation of the body as an interrelated system. By looking at your body as a whole system, we can address different issues that may impact one another.
You will receive acupuncture treatment in a private room. After discussing your health concerns, your practitioner will listen to the pulse from both wrists and check your tongue. Variations in pulse and tongue characteristics provide critical data about the source and severity of energy blockages. Next, an abdominal examination will be performed since the abdomen is like your second brain. Abdominal muscles have a memory of physical disease. At this point, we will discuss diagnostic impressions and recommend a course of treatment.
Acupuncture needles will be inserted to make contact with lines of energy. For the practitioner, this contact feels like a fish gently tugging on a line. Patients often report a similar painless tug. Let your practitioner know what type of sensations you get from the needles. Sensations range from a tiny tap or pinch to a dull soreness. These sensations can further help your practitioner to diagnose energy blocks and flows. Patients are generally surprised by the gentleness of insertion, but needles that cause discomfort can be adjusted or removed at any time.

After the needle placement, you will rest comfortably for 20~25 minutes. Please silence your phone during this time (unless you would like to use it to listen to music). Being in a calm and restful state allows better Qi flow which achieves the optimal treatment effect. Most patients experience a deep sense of restfulness and well-being. It’s not uncommon to fall asleep, and in fact, a short nap is beneficial to the flow of Qi. In the hours following treatment, most patients experience continued relaxation and peacefulness.
Depending on your condition, you may notice total or partial relief from pain or discomfort. Generally, this relief lasts longer with each successive treatment.
